week 28 - trimester THREE...

Well, well here we are my third trimester, the last stretch....really.  The end seems so much closer now that I am in my third trimester.  Everything is still going smoothly with no scary business and I think I finally found a sleeping position that is working!!  I have been having pretty weird dreams, like last night I had to be induced at 28 weeks and the way they were going to induce me was to give me a shot with a GIANT needle in my belly.  I was so scared, but they let Jack (our dog) be in there with us.  I never actually got the shot in the dream, it was more centered around how much the shot was going to hurt and how much I didn't want to get the shot.  Ha, weird pregnancy dreams.
Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)
baby center:
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world

Baby shower...

So, I have been giving baby showers some thought lately.  I have some idea's I really want to do and some I think I want to do.  One that I am kinda bouncing around is having a coed baby shower.  So my husband, his friends and my dad can come.  I think my husband would really love being apart of the celebration, after all both of us are having this baby.  I know its traditional to have only ladies attend a baby shower but I really think it would be awesome to have Dan there with me.
What do you all think about that?

I love love love vintage embroidery and crewel...

...and my favorite pieces I have ever seen (pictures of) I have yet been able to find and make them mine.  I am sure once you see the pictures you will recognize them and you probably would love to find them too.

I search everyday for these babies... Someday they WILL be MINE!!!!!

At church this Sunday Janet took a picture of three (out of six) of us pregnant ladies.  Enjoy and please ignore the fact that I look like a giant, I was even slouching in this picture!
Miriah (due April 4), Me the giant (due Jan. 22) and Christine (due Nov. 11)
Dan was getting some bad helmet hair so I cut it for him last night!
what a stud!!!

On the fence...

As you know I sold my red love seat and chaise lounge.  I have a ton of room in my living room I never had before and it is awesome.  I am unsure if I want to get a couch to replace the two sold pieces or just keep the extra room and deal with only having a love seat and three chairs.
If I got another couch I would downsize my chair collection and I would be super extra picky about the couch I would get.  I have been obsessing over couches on Apartment Therepy.  Here are a few I could live with in my house, but know I will never find in Juneau, ahhh to live downsouth....
I could live with the ottoman too

amazing

week 27

Holy moly, three months from yesterday is my "guess" date.  Its all creeping up on me and I feel like I have so much to do but I am not too sure what that stuff is.  I am crossing my fingers it all comes to me soon and I can get it all figured out and finished before this little baby wants to come out.  I get a little gitty thinking about life with our new addition, I am more excited now than I have been this entire pregnancy.
My friend Teri had her baby a few weeks ago and he is just so precious.  She is the first of the seven, yes SEVEN, pregnant women in our church to have her baby.  I will be the third.
Anyway, hooray for 27 weeks.  Oh yeah, and next week will be the first week of my third trimester!!!

week 27
baby center:
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

How far along? 27 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? on my last prenatal appointment the tally was 8 pounds. (I have an appointment this friday, so this will change)

Stretch marks? absolutely none (yet!).

Sleep? Sleep is getting a little more uncomfortable and a little more challenging.  I keep rolling onto my back so then I wake up with some intense lower back pain and some tight leg muscles.  I want to get a pregnancy pillow but they are insanely expensive.

Movement? The baby moves all the time, day and night.  It favorite spot seems to be right on my bladder...

Food cravings/aversions? No cravings yet, but I can't eat raw onions without getting sick.

Gender? Its a surprise.

Labor signs? none yet

Belly button in/out? its a half outty half flatty.

What I miss the most right now:  fitting into my jeans, and getting tattooed.

What I am looking forward to: Getting the baby and our room done.

"Waist" measurement: 36.5 inches

ugh...

With my new addition of bowls I rearranged my kitchen shelves.  They have a lot of weight on them and I lay awake at night thinking they will fall off the wall and all my collections will be broken.  Crossing my fingers this doesn't happen.
Here comes the UGH...
In other news Dan and I bought a cheap car to temporally replace his truck...guess what...3.5 days later, today, it broke down.  I think its safe to say we are having BAD luck with cars.  So I figure its time to just be patient and be a one car family for now.  It'll be different but it'll work, people don't die from having one car.

Happy mail and thrift store finds!

Yesterday was Alaska Day!  Since it was Alaska day Dan had the day off so we did our usual rounds when we are off together.  We went to town and checked the mail then went to the Salvation Army.  I found a few things worthy of mentioning on here.  I found the three bowls I was missing to make a complete set of the butter print cinderella pyrex bowls, two vintage kimono infant shirts, and a vintage winter themed sweater.  I also found a few other baby items and a few vintage pillows.
I already had the larger one of this set so now I have a complete set!

Vintage infant kimono shirts

Vintage winter sweater
A week or so ago I ordered this chair!  It finally arrived today....  Since I am still trying to oragnize/arrange my living room it just gets to sit in the corner with Dan's junk and Jack's toys.
new chair!
Also, I wanted to touch on something that has been bothering me.  So, one of the biggest negatives of being pregnant is all the unsolicited parenting advice you get from people you know and people you don't know.  People are talking to me as if I am some sort of idiot that doesn't know about safety or anything else for that matter.  I was actually warned of this when I first got pregnant and I didn't think it would be so bad or bother some.  ugh.

week 26

week 26 belly
ONLY 98 DAYS LEFT
We are still having a very uneventful pregnancy and are praying for it to continue being uneventful.  I think it's the only thing in life people pray to be uneventful.
I have been trying to stay somewhat active, but with the absolute horrendous weather we have been having its getting a little more challenging to get out and do something.  So, I am searching for an exercise bike.  When I had a gym membership the bikes were my favorite.  I could stay on them forever and just read.  Crossing my fingers I find one for free!
I noticed the number of times I wake up to pee in the middle of the night is increasing.  I lost count of how many times I woke up to pee last night, I feel like it was at least once an hour.  Also, I have been trying super hard to stay sleeping on my left side or well either side.  Before I was pregnant I was a stomach/back sleeper.  I keep waking up finding myself on my back, which is causing me some lower back pain.  Normally I can stretch it out in the morning and feel much better but I would really like to just skip the process.  I bought a body pillow and it has helped keep me on my side a little, I think I need some sort of wedge to put behind me to keep me from rolling onto my back.
On a fellow pregnant bloggers blog she had this question answer thing and I thought it would be fun to use it as well, so here we go...
How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? on my last prenatal appointment the tally was 8 pounds.

Stretch marks? absolutely none (yet!).

Sleep? I get a lot of sleep, around 8 or more hours but it is interrupted a number of times to uses the bathroom.

Movement? The baby moves all the time, day and night.

Food cravings/aversions? No cravings yet, but I can't eat raw onions without getting sick.

Gender? Its a surprise.

Labor signs? none yet

Belly button in/out? It is mostly flat.

What I miss the most right now: Sleeping on my tummy.

What I am looking forward to: Meeting out little bean and cherishing the first few moments of our new family member.

What Baby Center had to say this week:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

wisdom teeth and an iMac

My sweet husband got his wisdom teeth pulled today.  He's feeling pretty good at the moment, but they also said his worst days of pain will be Saturday and Sunday.  Apparently they had a pretty rough time with his teeth and it took a little extra to get them out.  He's pretty sore and swollen, as you can see.  They also had to give him the anesthetic twice to put him out.  They gave it to him to first time and said count back from 10 and he made it all the way to 1, the doctor and nurses were surprised he was still awake.  Anyway pray for a quick and easy recovery.
In other news, our new iMac made it here!!!  We love it.  Currently it lives on our kitchen table and will until I find a desk I am willing to put in my house.  The search is on.

I miss...

I miss...
sleeping on my tummy or back
lunch meat
being able to wear anything I own without having to worry about stretching it out
sleeping without having to get up to go pee more than once
sushi
being able to easily get out of my car
green tea
being able to keep a train of thought
Halibut
my slow growing nails
being able to bend over easily to pick things up
my not so huge chest

Just so I am not so negative here's a short list of things I will miss when I am not pregnant anymore.
I will miss...
feeling my little baby kick and squirm around in my belly
people being extra nice to me only because I am pregnant

An adventure in engine pulling

As stated in the post below Dan's truck blew-up, seized, broke, wont run whatever you wanna call it.  I forgot the technical term as to what happen.  Anyway Dan, Jeremy and my Pops decided to pull the engine out and take a look to see if it might be easy to fix, if we should just buy a new engine or a different car.  So, here they are in my Dad's garage doing boy stuff and having a fun time....boys!  This post will probably be more enjoyed by the masculine sex but girls you might like it too.  There are a lot of pictures, because I like lots of pictures so enjoy!

Good news and some bad news

Thankfully the love seat and chaise lounge sold within an hour of listing it on craigslist.org.  Also, when the guy that bought them was picking them up two other people called about them and a friend text me about them.  ha.  The guy that bought them did not have enough room in his vehicle to move both at the same time so Dan and I offered to put one in our truck and drive it to his house for him.  Now here comes the bad news.  On our way to his house Dan's truck engine seized.  Now he doesn't have a vehicle and we have to buy him a new one.  I guess at least we have a little extra money from selling our furniture.  If you think of it please pray we find a good vehicle at a good price.

week 25, movies and such

For some reason it seems like week 25 is a big important week of being pregnant for me, maybe its cause I am 25, who knows?  I feel so close to the end and I feel like I have sooo much to do to prepare for this little baby.  I have a bunch of ideas and a bunch of half finished projects.  I did list my couch and chaise lounge on craigslist.org so I hope they sell soon so I can somewhat get my living room looking the way I want.  The next thing I would like to start on is taking the upper old, slanted cupboards out of the kitchen and put open shelving in there.  That is what I wanted to do before we moved in but for some reason we didn't do it.  It has to get done before this baby comes or it'll NEVER get done.  Our room swap is still currently going on and I am sure it'll be happening for a while.
As far as the pregnancy is going, it is still uneventful and I hardly ever feel pregnant other than I have a bulging belly and a baby that I can feel swimming around all day.  I don't really feel the super emotional side of being pregnant, I really feel like I am just the same if not more laid back than before.  I am sure if you ask my husband he would say something different!  This past week at work I think every other customer asked if I was pregnant and how it was going.  It is nice to finally be asked instead of just looked at.  I can see how answering the same questions over and over again might get annoying after a while.  Ill try to make the most of it!  Oh yeah, a customer bought me a cute little striped, fleece one-piece suit.  It was so unexpected and sweet, I have the best regulars!

Your baby rivals the average rutabaga in weight -- about 1 1/2 pounds. (Length: 13 1/2 inches, head to heel.)
week 25
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Last night Dan and I went and saw "Life as We Know It"  It was such a cute movie for expectant parents to see or really anyone.  Dan and I really enjoyed it and laughed a whole bunch.  If you get a chance go see it.
old record player case
My sister-in-law DeAnna recently gave me this old record player case.  It works perfectly in our entry way and for now it is storing our extra throw blankets.  Maybe later Ill make it storage for our winter accessories.  You see the doors and how they are pretty scratched up, I think I am going to paint that part a moss green color.  What do you think?  The mirror pictured is one of the few decorating pieces I let Dan put in the living area, it still needs to be moved over a bit.
I also wanted to share something my Dad did for our baby.  Click here to read about it.  Thanks again, Dad, our baby is lucky to have you as a grandpa!

week 24 photos

I am so lucky I have such a talented sister-in-law.  Monday we took some more maternity photo's and I think these ones are my favorite.  Good talent + nice weather + beautiful scenery = AMAZING photo's.  I am so happy I will have these photo's forever to remember this time in my life.  Thank you so much Hannah for being willing to take these for me.
Here's some of the photos, beware there is ALOT (36 to be exact).
