stuff..

Freecycle. I love freecycle. Recently I snagged this 1940's secretary desk off there. I'm pretty stoked on it. I plan to spice it up a bit by painting it. Ill post pictures of it when I am done.

Thrift stores. I love thrift stores. I got a bunch on vintage buttons at the thrift store the other day. Which is funny cause a day or two before I found these AMAZING buttons at the thrift store, I was thinking about how sadly pathetic my button collection had become. Here's some pictures.

A new tradition?

This year, instead of wasting a bunch of money on things no one wanted, we did THIS instead. Maybe it'll be our new Christmas tradition.

All gussied up for Christmas

We don't have a tree, but I have decorated for Christmas, a little. I'd like to get some tree branches and put them in a vase and hang Christmas lights off it. But considering it is the night before Christmas Eve, I doubt it'll happen. So these little things will have to do. Christmas Tree Garland, made from felt.

Little trees in snow, made with old cereal boxes and yarn.

I hung the stocking

Finger knit garland, with some felt and button stars I made last year.

and of course, GIFTS.
I hope everyone out there has a blessed Christmas.

10 things I love....

about my husband. I found this idea on a website, here, and just thought it was the sweetest thing. So I decided to make one for Dan for Christmas. It was fun coming up with the 10 things, I did use some from the idea on the website but they are things I truly love about Dan. Anyway, I spent hours making it and when I was finished I was to excited to wait for Christmas, so I caved in and gave it to him early. ha.

Winter Solstice

was yesterday, which marks the shortest day of the year. I am personally very happy we are over the hump and making our way to longer days!!! The photo's are depicting the sunrise and set in Juneau yesterday.

I love this time of year!

The peacefulness of the snow is just so amazing. I love it. Not to mention all the quilt free laziness that accompanies that peaceful snow.
I have been spending a lot of time indoors this month. Occupying my time with some crafty things. I made various garland with yarn and felt. I also made a wreath (picture below) which I'm pretty proud of. Considering it was a tedious time consuming job that I actually finished.
Sadly it hasn't been snowing much this month. Its either been raining or just plain COLD. Although it has snowed the past two days, but its this very strange teeny tiny little balls of snow, almost like hail but softer. I need some light fluffy snow.
