Na Pali

Dang, this was BEAUTIFUL.

Kauai.....

YAY! we are finally here. Its so beautifully lush and fragrant here, Im jealous of the people who got to grow up here. Apparently its is destine to always rain on me, its been raining since we got here on and off. The locals say theres a patch of bad weather and it should be here for the next few days :( oh well, at least its not JUNEAU and freezing cold. We got in yesterday and took the drive up the coast to where we are staying. The drive was beautiful. Then we just took it easy, went to a taco place and came back to the Yurt. This morning we got up and walked to the beach out front and jumped in the warm water. IT WAS SOOOOOOOO NICE. Then it started raining to we came back and took a shower in the outdoor shower. Got ready and headed to Church. This water was so nice and warm.

The heavy rain outside the Yurt.

WHOA!

WHOA!!!!! Look at this picture. Whats missing? Ummm, maybe a rain jacket, a puffy warm jacket, rubber boots...... I DIDN'T HAVE TO WEAR ANY OF THAT TODAY BECAUSE IT WAS SUNNY. Dang, I seriously can not express to you how excited and happy I am about the sun coming out. After 32 consecutive days of measurable precipitation (aka- lots of days in a row of pouring down rain and dark clouds looming overhead) a sunny day is seriously needed for the well being of us Juneau folk. I woke up today preparing myself for the 33rd consecutive day of measurable precipitation, and it didn't happen. Oh man, well Im out to enjoy more of it. Hopefully you are doing the same, and if your not I'm just going to have to call you CRAZY.

Camp

This past weekend our Church had a family retreat out at Echo Ranch. It was awesome. The sun came out and let us enjoy one day without being soaking wet. Dan and I took advantage of the sun and took a canoe around then went on a horse ride. On our canoe trip the fog came and settled right over us. It was a little creepy canoing with fog all around. All in all it was a great weekend.

All the little ones on their horses.

What a beautiful day!

The fog that soon engulfed us.

Wow! Ok I know I'm really bad at keeping this thing updated but I can never think of anything to put on here. Seriously, the minute I open it up and try to type something my mind goes BLANK... Anyway, Dan and I finally have our trip scheduled for Hawaii and everything is booked and paid for all we have to do now is arrive. We leave for Kauai November 14. Man, I'm so excited for warm weather. Although this past week the weather hasn't been that terrible here. I just think its sad that any day its not raining is considered good weather. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of snow this winter.

An outdoorsie weekend....

We actually had some sunshine on Friday so when Dan and I finished work we packed up and headed out to "our" island. Here are a few pictures of the event.
Me and Jack

Dan and Jack

Amazingly, the arch Dan and I got married under is still holding together.

The rock isle in still there to.

Enjoying the last minutes of sun

A sunset.
The flash on the camera was so bright it gave us the deer in the headlights look.

Dan building a fire!

Sunday was a non-rainy day, once again. No sun but for this summer, a day without rain is like a day with sun. Anyway, Sunday we went to church and afterwards went to the Hanger for some delicious lunch. Since it wasn't raining after we ate and I could spot a tiny blue speck in the sky I thought it would be a good idea to go out the highway and take Jack for a walk. Dan wanted to nap, but I hate this horrible lazy rut we both seem to be getting in. So I convinced him to go for a walk with Jack and I. We went to the boyscout trail, which was awesome. I had never been out there before.

Jack and Dan. Doesn't Jack look kinda creepy.

Haha, Jacks new favorite thing to do while we drive.

The north beach on the boyscout trail. So beautiful, I could only dream it was sunny and 70 degrees out.

You gotta go when you gotta go.

our little Jack!

Over all it was a great weekend.

Slacker....

Yeah Yeah, I'm a slacker. Not much has happen since the last time I posted. We sold my Subaru and bought me an '87 325i BMW. Its a pretty blue color, and drives nicely. Its a little different for me to drive though. Iv never owned a car this old, oh and its a automatic which I'v never owned before either. I keep slamming on the breaks thinking its the clutch (dangerous). Anyway maybe one day ill post a picture of it and the new VW Bus.
Oh yeah, yesterday we went to a garage sale and came home with a new cat. She's eight years old, pretty coloring and super sweet. She doesn't get along with Banana or Jack yet but it'll happen soon.

update

So its been sunny since the 23rd of this month. My wish for sun came true!!! It has been marvelous, I sun burnt my scalp. I'v never done that before and I don't recommend it, its very painful. At first I thought I fell and hit my head so hard I didn't remember falling. Then I looked in the mirror and saw my scalp was super bright red. It feels a lot better now!! Oh, so this last Sunday after church a bunch of people including myself and Dan went out False outer'ish BBQ'ed and had a great time in the sun (thats where I burnt my head). On our way home Dan and I drove by someones driveway and saw a "78 VW bus for sale. Man o man, we bought it!!! haha, Its cute and putts along. It needs a tune up and has a little exhaust leak, but nothing MAJOR (so far). Ill post a picture later! Anyway it super sunny again today and is published to be sunny for the next 5 days or so.........Sooo... Im going to go out and enjoy it!!!

the weather

is really starting to get on my nerves. Im finding it kind of hard to stay in a positive mood. It has been raining or really cloudy for almost 4 weeks straight now. Its late May and we haven't had a sunny day yet this month. Also its VERY cold, we are lucky if it makes it above 50 degrees. I haven't taken my gloves out of my purse yet cause I still feel the need for them. I seriously want to cry because I'm so cold all the time, and am sick of wearing my winter attire. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sunny, at least for just one day!!!

Married life.

I thought it would feel a lot different now that we are married, but it pretty much feels the same. Which I think is a good thing. It is nice knowing who will be by my side the rest of my life. Everyone keeps asking me if we will be having children soon. Hmmm, why do people think that you should have children the moment you get married. I feel strongly that once you get married you should try to spend a minimum of a year with just the two of you before you go adding more humans to your mix. Its wise to get to know one another better before you add a child to everyting. So the answer is "someday, not soon" to that question. Plus we have Jack and he like a child, just a furry one that you can legally leave at home alone in a crate!

We got Married in the rain on May 3rd. Typical weather for Juneau, but it was still beautiful. We all walked out there while it wasn't raining, so we had high hope's of no rain during the ceremony. But..... As soon as everyone got changed the wind started up and the sky started to pour on us. Luckily we got umbrellas so everyone stayed remotely dry. The ceremony was rather quick (fastest one anyone saw Mick perform). Once the ceremony was over and Dan and I were officially Dan and Ashleigh EWING everyone ran for the tent.... anyway here's some pictures.

The reception was wonderful, lots of close friends and family came to celebrate with us. It was a good turn out, about 50 or so people. I dont think I've ever seen so many people in Mick and Sherrie's house. It was a great gathering for such a beautiful celebration. Dan and I got a room at "Grandma's feather bed". It was sweet, DeAnna set to room up with rose pedals and sparkleing cider! Also a very sweet mood setting CD. It was a beautiful day and it will turn into a beautiful memory that I will enjoy telling people in the future.
