Freecycle lamp

Recently I acquired a '70s hanging lamp through freecycle. When I got it it looked like JUNK, my husband even mentioned it looked like junk but I had a vision. Today with my extra time, from not going to work, I cleaned and spray painted it then rearranged my living room and hung it. I think it looks pretty good how about you?

Cupcakes!!!

Have I mentioned I LOVE CUPCAKES!!!!! Well I do.. Today I had the day off work and went downtown to meet Dan for lunch! My favorite place to get cupcakes is downtown, so I made a stop and got myself one! MMMMM, it was so good.

Embroidery and Scooters

I have been meaning to start embroidering. I have all the stuff but just never got around to doing it. So, the other day I finally got out all my embroidery stuff I have been collecting and did it. Here's the first thing I did, ever. I gave it to Dan to put on his desk at work! I have another project started, we'll see how it goes.

We got my scooter out and I have been enjoying some very fun but very chilly rides on it. I can't wait for it to warm up more so I can drive it to work.

All the two wheelers, thanks Dad for sacrificing your garage space for our toys!

New camera!

For our anniversary and my birthday (they are a week apart) Dan told me I could buy a camera! So, I just put the order in for a new Canon Rebel XSi and a EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM lens!
I can't wait for it to get here so I can play with it. Just thought I would share the exciting news.

Thrifty finds

Thrift finds.
I normally go to the thrift store everyday after I get off work at noon. Today I just wasn't feeling it and was pretty exhausted, so I wasn't going to go. Once I got in my car to go home I changed my mind and went anyway! Good thing I changed my mind and went anyway. I found all of the pictured stuff and a few other things. My heart skipped a beat when I spotted the two Dansk pots, yay for thrift stores!
two vintage Dansk pots with lids, two vintage tea towels, a vintage scarf, a vintage house robe, a vintage Pyrex cinderella bowl, a vintage tulip bowl and a handmade twin quilt.

With spring comes change.

With the arrival of spring came a desire to change things, I started with my room. I had a vintage embroidered table cloth up but it was too boring. I have a collection of frames I don't do anything with other than put in piles, so I put some to good use. I spray painted them and hung them above my bed. Them alone was pretty boring so I went searching online for an idea. Lucky for me I found the tutorial for the spring flower garland here! Its perfect.

GOAL: be creative!!

I want to be more creative with my free time.
here is a peak and something I am working on.

GOAL: be active!!!

I had to return a movie to the library today, so instead of driving I walked. I live about 1.5 miles from the library (one way). The walk there was pretty lame. It looked a lot nicer out than it was, the air was super chilly and the wind was blowing. I didn't wear a hat so my ear got super cold, I wanted to cry. Once I got to the library I stood inside for a while to let my ears warm up. As I was leaving the library I remembered a trail in the woods. I decided to take it since it would be out of the wind. Jack totally loved it cause he didn't have to be on his leash and could run around like a crazy dog.

Sunshine and BBQ's

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Once again the sun came out!Waking up to the sunshine pouring in my windows is just simply AMAZING!!!

After church today we had some friends and family come over for a BBQ the first of many to come!

HIGH TIDE

My husband is REALLY REALLY into motorcycles, if you couldn't tell, and has a blog for other motorcycle enthusiasts to read. Its about Juneau (or Alaska in general) and he features places to go and things to see on it. He decided to feature HIGH TIDE tattoo on there. The owner and employee's of HIGH TIDE are good friends of my husband and I. So the other day while it was sunny out we went down and took some photo's of them and around the shop. I used Picnik to make a banner for my husbands blog and though I would share it here.

Check this out.

I am some what drawn to these little tiny houses.

Spray paint and motorcycles.

The sun came out today, which is awesome cause I actually have today off. I normally work Saturdays but am seriously considering giving them up. I have been working Monday - Saturday for a little over a year now and I think it's time to let that shift go to someone else. It was a real treat to sleep in late with my husband laying next to me. By sleeping in I mean 7:30, ha, I normally wake up way earlier than that. Anyway once we finally got ourselves out of bed we tried to get my scooter started. Sadly we didn't succeed we are assuming its old gas, crossing my fingers. Dan did get to take one of his Harleys out for a ride though. This is a picture of him coming back, he always has such a big smile on his face when he gets to ride his bike. Since I didn't have a scooter to ride I took out my spray paint's and painted some frames and owls. The owls I thrifted and didn't really like too much, but I knew they would be better painted, so I bought them anyway. They still need a few more coats. The frames were also thrifted and I plan to hang them on the wall above my bed a long with a few others not pictured.

By the way, the sun feels MARVELOUS. I hope your day is marvelous as well!!

Work.

For those of you that don't know I slang coffee in the busiest drive-up coffee stand in town. I have worked there nearly four years and have developed a pretty good relationship with a majority of my customers. Around 85% of them are returning customers with a few strangers here and there. Sadly, what has been created is a plethora of super high maintenance customers that think they are made of gold. Most days this is O.K. but some days it is just LAME. They expect things a certain way and if they are not that certain way they get their panties in a bunch. Today a few things happen out of the ordinary. The milk machine failed and unloaded tons of water all over the floor. So for about an hour I couldn't make anything using milk, which is nearly everything. I had to wait for our service guy to bring new milk machines and hook them up. I had some very disappointed non-caffeinated customers I turned away.
Before I started turning customers away I used up what milk I had. One particular customers I like to refer to as the "dirty mega mocha guy" happen to be a recipient of the last bit of milk. He had expected to have a coupon for a "free" coffee but, nope, he didn't have one. I informed him of not having a coupon and he gave attitude, rolled his eyes and acted like I was inconveniencing him because he had to pay. I called him on his attitude and let him know it was uncalled for. Once he finally paid and he received 33 cents in change. On his way out he threw his change at the side of the booth. Ha. He showed me.
Anyway the rest of the day the service guy was there crawling and climbing around trying to get everything working properly. Meanwhile all my high maintenance customers approached the windows with snooty looks and rude comments. I love my job, most days!!!

It felt like SPRING today!

Some would probably be surprised to hear me say "I am glad its almost spring". With how much I love winter I normally never wish for spring, but this winter has been sadly disappointing for me. I am ready to move on! Today the sun came out and the air was chilly, the first sign of spring. I took Jack out to Auke Rec. and let him run around and roll in the dirt.

Almost Springtime!DAlmost SpringtimeSCN4718Almost Springtime
It was kinda stormy out at Auke Rec. but the air was pleasant. Jack ran around and rolled in a million different spots, he was having a ball. I sat on a huge rock and enjoyed the scenery. Out in the water I saw, what I think was, a seal but I think it might have been too big to be a seal. Anyway, whatever it was was having a ball out there popping up out of the water looking around and then quickly diving back under. He was too fast to get captured by my camera, but at least he was a treat for me to see.
Once Jack was covered in dry leaves and dirt we came home and opened all the curtains to let the sunshine in! I love our new place, it has so many windows. Our old place was so dark. I am looking forward to the summer here.
Since the sun was shining in so beautifully I gathered some fabric together and made some bow's for my hair. It is something I have been wanting to do, but just haven't out of pure laziness. I saw a small tutorial on A Beautiful Mess a while back that inspired me to make them. I think they turned out pretty cute.

Snow and bed's

Eaglecrest snow land
Today was AMAZING I am so glad winter came back. Up on the mountain it was crazy windy and snowy. All I can say is POWDER, thank god for POWDER!
Living room camping
So we got a new bed, its a Sleep Innovations Novafoam bed. It came vacuum sealed in a box, so its need to be exposed to air for 48 hours, before sleeping on it, so it can expand to its full potential. So for now we are sleeping in the living room on the floor on our old mattress.

Its offical...

I am a thrift shop junkie. I have gone every single day, at noon sharp, for the past 4+ weeks! Before the past 4+ weeks I went to the thrift shop a minimum of 2 days a week. Oh yeah, and at least once a week I drive downtown to the other thrift shop in town.
It is, so very conveniently, on my way home from work and at noon (when I conveniently get off of work) they always wheel in baskets and racks of newly sorted things! I don't find something everyday, but the days I do are special. I think we might need to buy a bigger house with all the collections of things I am building. Along with the collections my husband has. Ha!
I LOVE THRIFT STORES....sigh.

Alice in Wonderland

I LOVED IT
Tim Burton, seriously, NEVER disappoints me. I love this look on the Alice in Wonderland story and it is executed perfect, aside from some corny spots in the beginning and end. Tim Burton has such a creative mind.
I loved Johnny Depp in the film. Johnny Depp also NEVER disappoints me. He plays the "Mad Hatter" and I don't think anyone else in Hollywood could do a better job. He plays the best "crazy". In the film I can sense a little "Edward Scissor Hands" and a little "Jack Sparrow".
I would go see it again and again if it weren't so expensive to go to the movies. I am definitely buying it when it comes out.

Wonderland...

Dan and I are going to see the new Alice in Wonderland tonight. I can't wait, it was my favorite story and movie when I was a little girl. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
