week 11

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.
I am one week away from my second trimester, I can't wait. This morning sickness stuff is sure getting old. It has been at its worst the past week. I have been hugging to toilet at least once if not more everyday. The other day I even threw up off our porch. ha. Luckily I feel pretty good in the morning while I am at work. But shortly after I get off work I start to feel lousier by the minute. Once evening hits I feel horrible. I contemplate every night not going to work the next day because of how lousy I feel, but then I remember I feel just fine in the mornings. My belly isn't sticking out too much but it is a little compared to how it was before. Once I think it actually looks like a baby bump I start taking photo's and posting them along with these updates.

scooters and motorcycles

This past Sunday was fathers day and we were blessed with good weather. It was clear and hot out. To celebrate fathers day and the good weather Dan and I took our motorcycles downtown to have lunch at the Hanger with the Roselle family. Its a 10 mile trip from our house. It was awesome, the air was so warm. It was the first time I had taken my scooter further than a couple of miles. Riding on a scooter next to a loud rumbling Harley makes me feel so cool! I bet a lot of people were wondering why the guy riding a super cool FAST bike is riding so slowly next to the girl on a scooter. But then thay probably figured he loves me and love makes you do silly things!

I hate that helmet, makes me look like I have a HUGE head. But it'll save my life and my brains if an accident were to happen so I am okay with looking a little silly.

week 10

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)
This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in baby's body rapidly grow and mature.
Baby is swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.
If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.
In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. The hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over the heart, and the feet may be long enough to meet in front of the body. The outline of the spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from the spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with the developing brain and sits very high on the head, which measures half the length of the body. From crown to rump, baby's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

I am super excited to be nearing my second trimester, where I hear morning sickness and fatigue start coming to an end. I have been pretty sick lately, luckily it has been hitting me later in the day so I am not having to deal with it at work. Sometimes it comes so suddenly that I can't make it to the bathroom and have to find somewhere to throw up quickly (kitchen sink, garbage can etc..) I seriously can't wait for this part to be OVER. The fatigue is getting better but is still very present. I am only letting myself take one to two hour naps instead of the normal three to four. My belly is sticking out some, but not a lot. Not like pregnant looking, just getting fatter looking! I am sure it is a mixture of the two. With my super low energy I haven't been getting out as much as I should, which is another reason I am excited for the second trimester. I actually had a dream about moving into my second trimester a little while ago. It was fantastic, in the dream it happen fast. It was like I woke up the day of my second trimester and I felt AWESOME no sickness, no fatigue. I hope that dream comes true!

week 9

Baby's now the size of a green olive!
Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby! The baby's essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form -- as do its tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks.
I am still suffering from morning sickness, but light snacking at work and throughout the day seems to help it out A LOT. Whenever I am at work and feel it coming on I eat a handful of almonds and then drink a little water to help them down and I feel much better afterward. As far as the sleeping goes I do feel a little tiny bit more energetic. My naps are only bout one and a half hours to two hours a day, which is an improvement from four plus hours. I really feel like my belly is sticking out a whole lot more then it use to. I wouldn't say I have a bump of any kind, it just looks like I am getting a gut cause I am lazy or something.

nauseous

This picture pretty much sums up how I have been feeling for the past few weeks. More so in the last four days. I am insanely exhausted and nauseous ALL THE TIME. Pretty much everyday when I get off work at noon I come home and make myself something quick to munch on and then I go lay down and sleep hard until around 4:45ish, when Dan gets home. Then Ill stay awake and hang out with Dan until around 7:30 - 8:00ish. All I want to do is sleep, sleep, sleep. I can't wait until I am over this sleeping all the time deal. Also I am nauseous ALL THE TIME, it feels like I am on a badly rocking boat all day... Yesterday was the first day I actually threw up. It was at work and I had to run to the bathroom to throw up in the toilet. I did feel pretty good after throwing up though, but only for about an hour. Other than that everything is going great, ha!
I bought a dresser at the thrift store yesterday to house all the baby clothes, blankets, diapers etc. Its the first piece of baby furniture!

Summer bus camping

This past weekend Dan and I took the bus out the road in an attempt to go camping. We didn't think about the fact that the only option you have for camping in a vehicle is the side of the road. At first we were okay with the idea and found a beautiful sunny spot around Sunshine cove. We parked the van, enjoyed the view, ate some snacks, talked a little and tried to take a nap. During that time car after car drove by and we realized this would be happening all night (it was friday night). I also thought about how I go pee at night a minimum of five times and well I didn't want to go pee outside on the side of the road five times that night. So we ultimately decided to go home and sleep in our own house. The idea was fun and maybe we will actually complete a whole night out there sometime.

the view
In other news I am around 8 weeks now and still feeling the morning sickness. So far I haven't actually thrown up but today was the closest I have come to it. Today was also the first time it hit me in the early part of work when it was busy. I think all the walking back and forth and talking etc... did me in. Every time a new customer pulled up to the window and I had to greet them I felt like I was going to throw up all over then the moment I spoke. I had a nutri-grain bar with me and quickly opened it and took a few bites, lucky for me it helped ease the sickness and I was able to make it threw the rest of work. Also one thing I have noticed is that I want fruit and it seems to make me feel better when I am not feeling so great.

Some people

Today at work I had a lady come and order a 16 oz. Mocha Chillichino (sugary powder that you mix with chocolate milk, ice and then blend). People normally get these with whipped cream so I asked her if she wanted any. She replied "No, I can't do sugar" I felt I needed to inform her of the sugar content in the drink she just ordered, but she left before I could let her know. Later a guy came and ordered a 20 oz. Mocha. Again, people normally get whipped cream on these drinks so I asked if he wanted any. He replied "No, I am lactose intolerant." I let him know that that Mocha was made with high fat chocolate milk, he stilled wanted the Mocha anyway but no whipped cream. Then to top today off with weird totally bizarre stupidity Dan and I were driving home from the store in our VW bus and a man cruised pass us on a bicycle and yelled at us "F Hippies" (he used the real word). Considering the VW bus is a vintage collectors car anyone could own it. I guess he is lucky we are pretty mellow people when it comes to things like that or he could have gotten a good beating yelling that at the wrong person.
HAHA, ok well I am done rambling about the three moments in my day where just weird and stupid.

The old bus...

I love our old bus.

Yesterday Jeremy came over and looked over the engine with Dan and together they got it started and running. YAYAYAYAYAY! I love to just look at the bus, it seriously puts an instant smile on my face, and well a running bus is just a million times better! Dan drove it to work today and it made it there and back, no problem. I am looking forward to the summer spent with the 'ol bus!

A party fit for a superhero.

This past weekend was gorgeous, again, and it was our nephews fourth birthday! We celebrated with a superhero party. It was so cute, everyone dressed up and had some super superhero fun.
In other news our bean is the size of a blueberry now!
Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place. Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs -- although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long.
So I have been peeing like crazy which I find out is because: HCG (pregnancy hormone) increases blood (and urine) flow, your more-efficient kidneys rid waste quicker since you're now peeing for two, and that growing uterus is pressed right down on your bladder. I literally go pee 3x a night minimum and during the day way too many to count. Also I my tummy is sticking out more than usual, in all honesty I FEEL HUGE. haha. Which is funny to think because of how big I am actually going to get. The muscle around my hips, lower back and lower tummy area ache. Everyone tells me its because the muscles are stretching to accommodate my little bean. I am still insanely tried and I think I have been hit with morning sickness. Yesterday I was nauseous all day and today it hit me around 10 and has lasted pretty much all day since. I am thankful that it seems to wait until later in the morning rather than starting right away.
