the island

Last Friday Dan, Ruby and I went out to the island (we got married on) for the first time since last fall.
It was a beautiful evening to pack a dinner to enjoy around a fire.
The walk was soggy and slippery.
Ruby didn't like sitting on the ground at all.  I had to bribe her with goldfish and hummus.
She managed to smear the hummus all over her face, her jacket, the blanket and me!
Dan built and stoked the fire, we ate and enjoyed the quiet surroundings and day dreamed about owning similar property!

Ruby was thoroughly entertained by Jack wanting to lick the hummus off of her!

Once the sun started to set it got pretty chilly so we headed back to the car.

 Ahh, the sunset was gorgeous!

Sunshine

It has been sunny this past week which is so awesome.  I am so ready for spring and better weather to come.
Yesterday after Dan got home from work we packed up some sandwiches and walked over to the pond near our house.  We picked a bench in the sunshine and enjoyed our light dinner.
It was a little chilly out but you could still feel the warm sun on your skin.

The walk home ended with Jack in the stroller and Ruby being carried.

a glimpse of spring

Today we woke up to a beautiful day of sunshine and above 40 degree temps.  Once we were fed and dressed we headed out the door to take advantage of this little treat.  It was so pleasant out you'd almost forget it was February.  Walking down the trail with the sun shining on my face and the warmish breeze blowing was defiantly a welcome glimpse of spring.
The weather is sour pretty often here and can surely break you down and make you focus on all the things you hate about living here.  I often find myself obsessing over moving to a slightly warmer climate that has more sunshine than rain.  I even go as far as looking for houses to buy and jobs for my husband to apply for.  But when I wake up to days like today those thoughts are quickly forgotten and all I can think about is how lucky and blessed I am to live in such an amazingly beautiful place.
On beautiful days I can't help but take and share a tons of pictures, so enjoy!

Spring has sprung

Ruby is happiest when her diaper is off, so today I put a pee-pad under her and let her lay on the living room floor in the sunshine.  She happily laid there for about 45 minutes.
Dan got home around 5:00 and since it was still pretty nice out we all went for a walk to the duck pond.  It was actually somewhat warm, spring is surely here!
 still signs of winter
The fresh air was so nice to breath after being cooped up in my house with a cold.

Ruby actually enjoyed some of the walk awake!
I hope this weather stays around for the weekend!

 Have a good weekend!

It felt like SPRING today!

Some would probably be surprised to hear me say "I am glad its almost spring". With how much I love winter I normally never wish for spring, but this winter has been sadly disappointing for me. I am ready to move on! Today the sun came out and the air was chilly, the first sign of spring. I took Jack out to Auke Rec. and let him run around and roll in the dirt.

Almost Springtime!DAlmost SpringtimeSCN4718Almost Springtime
It was kinda stormy out at Auke Rec. but the air was pleasant. Jack ran around and rolled in a million different spots, he was having a ball. I sat on a huge rock and enjoyed the scenery. Out in the water I saw, what I think was, a seal but I think it might have been too big to be a seal. Anyway, whatever it was was having a ball out there popping up out of the water looking around and then quickly diving back under. He was too fast to get captured by my camera, but at least he was a treat for me to see.
Once Jack was covered in dry leaves and dirt we came home and opened all the curtains to let the sunshine in! I love our new place, it has so many windows. Our old place was so dark. I am looking forward to the summer here.
Since the sun was shining in so beautifully I gathered some fabric together and made some bow's for my hair. It is something I have been wanting to do, but just haven't out of pure laziness. I saw a small tutorial on A Beautiful Mess a while back that inspired me to make them. I think they turned out pretty cute.
