Ruby turned two

This was the first picture taken of two year old Ruby, I love it!
Her birthday was a Sunday so before church her and I had a little tiny celebration.  I got up early and put streamers on her door and blew up some balloons.  I also did some minor decorating in the kitchen.  Once Ruby woke up I went into her room and took the first picture in this post.  She was surprised.  Then I change her and put this cute little dress on her.  In true two year old fashion she freaked out and threw a tantrum because she didn't want to wear this dress.  Anyway, once she finally came out she was mildly excited about the streamers and balloons then quickly remembered she hated this dress at the moment.

I can tell life with a two year old is going to be interesting.

Once I finally got her out to the kitchen and she saw the enormous Hello Kitty balloon and cupcake she forgot all about her tantrum.  I put candles in a solo cupcake and sang to her.
While she licked the frosting off her cupcake I let her open a few little gift.

She got some new hair clips, plastic jewelry and some big girl panties!

Now that she knows this chair rocks its nearly impossible to get these pictures in focus.

For some reason she wanted to be in her birthday suit for these, I had to force her to keep her diaper on.

Since Ruby's cousin Felix's birthday is two days after hers we had a celebration for the two of them later in the week.

lately...

Sound asleep during the day.
Ruby has been such a loving big sister so far all the wants to do is hug, kiss and hold Imogen.
We were lucky to have Dan home for the first two weeks!
Growing like a weed and changing so much everyday.
 Ruby at 22 months.

I am making sure I am spending some one on one time with this little lady each day.
Even if it is just supervising a snack!
More sisterly love!
 Two weeks already.

currently

38 weeks
Today I am currently 38 weeks and 2 days and my body feels exhausted from being pregnant.  On Tuesday at my appointment my midwife checked me and said I was 2 cm dilated and nearly fully effaced and the baby was at station 0.  But that doesn't mean anything in regards to going into labor soon.  Hopefully it just means that by the time I actually go into labor there wont be much that has to be done before the pushing can start.  I pray for the pushing stage to be easier and quicker this time around.  With Ruby I pushed for 2 and 1/2 hours, I am thinking its cause she was born with her arm and hand up by her head.
Anyway my body feels ready, my mind feels ready, I am just READY!
22 months
Ruby is now 22 months old going on 16 years old, this little girl has so much sass in her.
I don't think she quite conceives what it means when I tell her mama has a baby in her belly and that she's going to be a big sister soon.  Though she has taken on the cutest roll of being a mama to her many babies, I am hoping the arrival of her brother or sister will be a good thing in her mind!
She is communicating her needs and wants so much better these days.  I am trying really hard to give her the right words to use so we can avoid as much whining a possible.  She is super opinionated and knows what she wants and isn't afraid to throw a tantrum about.
She also has an incredibly sweet side that likes to slow down and cuddle mama on the couch and read books.  She also loves giving kisses and hugs, at least to her papa and I.
Last week on Thanksgiving Dan's sister took some very special maternity family of three pictures for us.  Its such a treat having someone with such talent in the family!!

19 months

Ruby is becoming more and more independent these days.  She want to do everything her self and will protest you trying to help her.  She also has strong opinions on things and a stubbornness that is maddening.  She sure is a toddler.
Right now her favorite word is NO!  She practices it all the time saying it on repeat in different tones and pitches.  I catch her randomly saying it to her books and toys.  She also likes to use it when talking to her papa or I.  When she uses it in the right context its fine but when she is using it out of context with attitude its not okay.
Really though what more could we expect from a 19 month old.
She still has a melt your heart smile, a super silly personality,
and sass.

17 and 18 months, finally

17 months
17 months
17 months
18 months
18 months
18 months
Wow, this took me forever to get up here.  I find myself just wanting to nap or do things not involving the computer these days.
Its hard to believe Ruby is already almost 19 months old and that we will have a newborn in just a few short months.  Sometimes I am stricken with the most nauseating anxiety at the thought of taking care of two little ones under two at the same time.  Luckily the few people I have talked to about it are pretty encouraging and spare me the terrible stories.  When I am not feeling nauseous at the thought of caring for two children I deal with sad thoughts of shorting Ruby on her one on one time with me.  Sometimes I wish we would have let her get a little older before becoming pregnant again, too late now.  I know we will all adjust perfectly and right after the baby is born it'll feel like the baby has always been here.  Its just hard to think like that right now.
Anyway, about Ruby getting older...
Her vocabulary has blossomed a lot, this little girl says so much now.
She is suffering from the terrible two's temper tantrums already.
She wants to do EVERYTHING by herself.
She recently go a pair of rain boots and she is completely obsessed.
Another obsessed includes her old Fisher Price toys I finally took out for her to play with.
She is still a sleeping champ!
She has switched from being a total people charmer to being shy.
She likes sugar just as much as her papa and he always give into her.
